Character's Name: Kagura
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Classification: Sorcerer
Home: She was born in the Katreh equivalent of Japan, but has lived in the Fortress for seventeen years.
Powers: Kagura came to the Fortress at the age of nine and gravitated straight toward the libraries. (They do have libraries, right?) There, she learned to read and write in English, and then in many other languages. Most of her power lies in words: learning and translating languages, speaking to people, and knowing what to say. This makes her an excellent diplomat and spy, a line of work she has occasionally had to pursue. However, she hasn't had time to learn many actual spells, so in sorcerer terms, she is relatively weak.
Personality: Kagura, as a master of words, comes across as confident but respectful, just the way she wants to. One of the last vestiges of her upbringing is her use of Japanese honorifics with people’s names. She calls most other residents of the Fortress, even those below her in status, [name]-san, and Council members [name]-sama. (-san is basically Ms. or Mr., and –sama is roughly equivalent to ‘lord/lady so-and-so.’) Kagura is rather vain about her physical appearance, but holds no illusions about her powers. She knows that she can barely defend herself against a magician with magic, and so wears bracers of knives on her arms at all times. She is suspicious and slow to trust, and will betray even her friends if it saves her own neck for a little longer. Kagura feels most comfortable in secrecy, when she knows something the person she’s talking to doesn’t. To that end, she likes to keep most of her face hidden, so what she’s feeling is heavily concealed.
Physical Appearance: Kagura is very pretty, with long black hair, creamy skin, and dark brown eyes. To preserve her looks, she keeps her hair bound up and wears long, full-body cloaks and robes when outdoors in the desert sun so that only her eyes are visible. Inside, she often wears the traditional yukata or kimono of her homeland and carries a fan to hide her expressions.
Family: Kagura almost never talks about her birth family, but it is assumed from what she has said that her parents were minor sorcerers whose powers faded, not powerful enough to ever be trained. At the age of nine, she ran away to the farthest land she knew of, Shandongan, and there met Feng and his family preparing to take him to the Fortress. Even that young, she was excellent at the art of persuasion, and managed to land herself a spot on the trip. While journeying to the Sandstone Fortress, she and Feng grew very close, almost like brother and sister. She calls him Kaze-kun, because ‘kaze’ means ‘wind’ in Japanese.
Notes: I can’t get online very often, although Penty-chan and I are trying to set up something where I get to go over to her house and use the computer more than I do now. I will, however, RP Kagura as much as I can. This looks like too much fun to pass up.
